This position oversees payroll administration for the company. The Payroll Manager is responsible for paying employees and compiling payroll information by managing payroll preparation, completing reports, and maintaining records. This position requires a detail-oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains payroll information within designated systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/site transfers.
Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electric transfers to bank accounts on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.
Runs and processes certified payroll.
Prepares monthly and quarterly reports regarding summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Verifies payroll accuracy and maintains complete payroll records to support each pay period.
Processes mandatory support orders and mandatory wade garnishment orders.
Processes and responds to DOL separation information requests and submits rebuttals to unemployment claims.
Processes employee 401k & ROTH election changes in ADP.
Calculates PTO accrual and records in TimeClock Plus.
Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
Provides payroll information by answering employee questions and requests.
Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Compiles a daily email of employee missed punches to supervisors
Processes employee terminations in ADP, TimeClock Plus, and QuickBooks.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Preferred Education and Skills (in addition to the required):
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related
5+ years payroll experience
Experience working in the construction or manufacturing industry
Experience in a quick growing, fast paced environment
Experience working in ADP Workforce Now
Required Education and Skills:
High school diploma
3+ years payroll experience
Experience running multi-state payroll
Experience with compliance and regulations related to payroll
Payroll software familiarity, preferably with ADP
Ability to handle multiple changing and competing demands
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail
