As a key member of the Tecomet Finance team, the Senior Accountant is responsible for a broad range of critical responsibilities: accounts receivable, cash, fixed assets, inter-company transactions, and sales performance reporting. In addition, the position serves as a back-up resource for other team members’ responsibilities, and provides support for various weekly, monthly, and annual finance activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute the Accounts Receivable function, including daily sales invoicing, A/R aging analysis, delinquent collections, and cash application.
Manage the fixed asset and capital expenditure processes, including maintaining the fixed asset systems for both Kenosha, WI and Boulder, CO locations, calculating and booking depreciation expense, capitalizing assets from construction-in-process, assisting in the preparation and analysis of capital expenditure requests (CERs), and submitting requests via the CER workflow system.
Report daily sales and shipping activity, including sales progress vs objectives, on-time delivery, and past-due shipping backlog.
Reconcile all bank / cash accounts, accounts receivable accounts, and Kenosha fixed asset accounts.
Perform inter-company AR/AP invoices, and reconcile balances with various sites at month-end.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
Prepare and substantiate accounting estimates as necessary.
Ensure the accuracy, quality, and integrity of the company’s accounting system.
Support the integrity of the company’s internal control environment.
Support external audits, bank audits, and external reporting requirements as needed.
Support annual physical inventories or cycle counting processes as necessary.
Provide forecasts, projections and analysis as required.
Assist in annual budget preparation.
Serve as back-up resource for various finance team responsibilities, including accounts payable, cash forecasting/reporting, weekly flash reporting, monthly financial submissions, and filings to state and federal agencies.
Manage and complete specialized projects independently or as part of a team.
Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance
Five or more years related experience and/or training
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Eagerness to learn new skills and capabilities in all areas of finance/accounting
Ability to work well under pressure and to remain flexible to changing schedules and demands
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience with Epicor or other full-scope ERP system a plus
Excellent data entry skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Comprehension of general ledger accounting
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Work Environment: The work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations: standard office equipment which may include computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Workers exposed to the production floor could be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and moderate to loud noise conditions. Well lighted, heated/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
