The Structured Cabling Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for managing the complete life cycle of all size projects, including moderately-to-highly complex projects. The complete life cycle includes approval, planning, estimating, execution, and closeout to ensure planned results are successfully achieved and in a timely manner. In addition to having excellent leadership skills, the ideal candidate will also possess an extensive background in the Data Communications/Structured Cabling industry.
Actively identify and pursue new business leads and opportunities
Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings
Complete project estimates, including take-offs, pricing, bud summaries and final bid prep
Organize and prepare scope of work descriptions
Proactively follow-up on proposals both verbally and in writing
Interact and negotiate with vendors
Develop strong relationships with sub-contractors
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Recognize and communicate risk
Supervises and assists with the design, installation, maintenance, documentation of structured cabling projects.
Develops and stays within budgets, timelines, and ensures progress to plan, as well as tracks critical project achievements.
Performs surveys, prices new projects, attends meetings and proposes solutions to installation issues.
Management of installation, technical and sub-contract employees.
Project scheduling, coordination with trades and financial management.
Manages technicians at project sites and assures timely completion of work.
Services new and existing customers and communicates project status to the VP Of Operations.
Builds and maintains appropriate customer service relationships.
Trains technicians and facilitates learning in the field.
Works and maintains relations with vendors/ customers to establish and achieve goals.
Acts as the single point of contact for project status, by maintaining communication with stakeholders.
Manage all assigned projects to completion and ensuring on-time delivery, meeting of budgetary demands, and maintaining overall project ownership.
Provides research and leadership in the development and design of new projects.
Manages project status and information in the form of formal briefings, project update meetings, and use of current internal system.
Coordinates with other work streams, projects, and initiatives which may impact successful completion of project.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel while having oversight of those responsibilities.
Ensure all project related invoicing is done timely while adhering to the company’s and client’s processes.
Conducts regular project team meetings to action items and project schedule.
Make recommendations for positive and negative personnel actions for those under his/her direct supervision.
Coordinates and manages project turnover
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Drivers License, insurance and reliable transportation
2-5 years experience in client relations, project estimation, installation and field experience.
At least 2 years of Project Management experience.
Capable of reading blueprints and associated building information.
Ability to rapidly understand business objectives and combine them with a deep understanding of project management to create, sell and drive effective solutions.
Ability to work effectively with co-workers and satisfy customer requests.
Strategic thinker and problem solver who has demonstrated a track record of delivering projects within time and budget with the right quality for clients.
Leader who can align, direct, motivate and grow teams and clients
