Job: Project Center ePT Systems Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills, MI 48326
The Project Center ePT Systems Engineer is responsible for executing electrified powertrain system development activities within the project center. The electrified powertrain tasks include high voltage systems, charging and electric drive systems. The engineer will plan and coordinate day to day activities related to high voltage components used in electric vehicles including motors, DC/DC converters, charging systems and thermal systems. Development activities will be closely coordinated with ePT sub-systems and calibration teams. In addition, test plans and time lines will be developed and reports generated to communicate the status of the program to the larger team. Evaluations will occur with new hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications. The engineer will analyze and solve complex system problems as they relate to network communication hardware performance, fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and calibration development. The engineer will manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of test data. The engineer will also actively participate in the decision process of ePT hardware selection and calibration to achieve functional objectives.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the development and calibration of hybrid or electric propulsion systems
2 years of experience in the development and calibration of hybrid or electric propulsion systems?
Strong knowledge of hardware and controls development
Strong knowledge of high voltage electrical systems
Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data
Working knowledge of data analysis and calibration tools propulsion systems technologies and competitive products
Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Experience and overall knowledge in hardware development and diagnostics / powertrain systems development / controls systems development
Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques
Proficient in advanced simulation tools
Proficient in Matlab / Simulink
